From a Simple Idea to a Game-Changing Solution: The Journey of Creating a Carpooling Solution Without a Car
Do you remember the last time you had to catch a flight and faced the dreaded commute from the airport to the city centre? If you’re like me, you’ve probably experienced the frustration of shelling out a hefty amount for a cab or enduring a long, crowded bus ride. It was during one such trip that I had an epiphany that would eventually lead to the creation of what we now call CoRider.
The story begins at my native place, where I was gearing up for an upcoming flight to Bengaluru. As I contemplated the impending journey, the cost of airport transportation weighed heavily on my mind. It was then that I realised I had encountered the same predicament several years ago when I was younger. Back then, I couldn’t afford a cab, so I begrudgingly boarded the bus, enduring a lengthy and less-than-comfortable ride.
At that time, I was living in a PG area, and this got me thinking – surely, there must be others in my vicinity who were also heading to the airport around the same time. Couldn’t we share a ride and split the cost? The idea of a solution to this problem began to take root.
Fast forward to the present, and I was surprised to find that the issue I had faced years ago still remained unresolved. Despite the advancements in technology, there was no efficient way to connect travellers heading to the same destination at the same time where no one owned a car.
Determined to find a solution, I decided to delve deeper into this pain point. I knew that to turn this idea into a viable product, I needed to understand the problem thoroughly. So, I started by discussing it with as many people as possible, listening to their stories and experiences. Their input was invaluable and helped me refine the concept.
As I continued my journey, I realised the importance of focusing on the fundamentals of converting an idea into a product. It was not just about creating a solution but also about ensuring that it was user-friendly, reliable, and, most importantly, a real game-changer for commuters.
With a clearer vision and a better understanding of the problem, I began to shape the concept into a tangible product. This marked the start of the design phase. I wanted to create an app that would seamlessly connect travellers heading to the same destination, making their journeys more affordable, convenient, and enjoyable. I wanted an app which would work even if you are not at the location, allowing you to create trips well in advance. I didn’t want the app to be limited to certain locations only, therefore I wrote an algorithm completely based on coordinate geometry making the app usable anywhere in the world.
Throughout this journey, I didn’t hesitate to modify the product when necessary. Feedback from potential users was invaluable in refining the features and functionalities of the app. It was a continuous process of improvement and adaptation.
And now, here we are, closer than ever to realising that dream. It’s been an incredible journey, from a simple thought in my native place to a solution that
has the potential to transform the way we commute to and from airports. The road wasn’t always smooth, but the determination to solve a common problem and make travel more accessible and affordable kept me going.
As we inch closer to the launch of CoRider, I can’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come. This journey has taught me the importance of perseverance and the power of collaboration. Determined to find a solution, I decided to delve deeper into this pain point. I knew that to turn this idea into a viable product, I needed to understand the problem thoroughly. So, I started by discussing it with as many people as possible, listening to their stories and experiences. Their input was invaluable and helped me refine the concept, and the impact that technology can have in solving everyday problems. I’m excited about the future and the positive change our product will bring to the world of airport commuting. Stay tuned for more updates, and together, let’s make carpooling travel a breeze!
